Lela Mae Josephs, 97, of Duluth, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, in Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center. Lela was born in Fedora, S.D., on Jan. 21, 1907, to John and Louella (Baden) Young. She was raised in Iowa. Lela graduated from the Norwegian American Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago. She worked at the Cook County Hospital until moving to Duluth in 1936. She married Leonard Josephs in Duluth on Sept. 6, 1938. She was a loving caretaker of her family and provided care for her daughter, Victoria, until her death in 1971. Lela was a 60 year member of Pilgrim Congregational Church. She was an avid walker and loved to read. She deeply loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her church. Lela is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter; her husband; a brother, Errol; and her twin sister, Leta Dittemore. Surviving is a son, Robert 'Bob' (Betty) of Duluth; grandchildren, Cindy (David) Matalamaki of Apple Valley, Len (Rebecca) of Minneapolis and Katie Josephs of Duluth; great grandchildren, Megan, Taav and Tess Matalamaki. VISITATION:12 noon until the 1 p.m. service Saturday in Pilgrim Congregational Church. Burial will be at Temple Immanuel Cemetery.
